This must be the largest golden structure I’ve ever seen. Like something out of an old movie, it’s a tall, golden Buddhist stupa shining in the sunlight. I never expected to see something like this in a poor country like Laos. This beats other golden icons I’ve seen anywhere, the size is just enormous.

Jatuh Cinta dengan Kyoto


Salah seorang teman yang pernah tinggal di Jepang berkata pada saya, “Kalau Tokyo itu seperti Jakarta, Kyoto lebih seperti Yogya.” Saya pun makin bersemangat merencanakan liburan ke Jepang, untuk merasakan dua kota dengan atmosfer berbeda itu.

Ternyata, saya memang langsung jatuh cinta dengan Kyoto, kota yang merupakan ibu kota kekaisaran Jepang selama lebih dari seribu tahun, sebelum akhirnya berpindah ke Tokyo (yang waktu itu masih bernama Edo).

Dari Tokyo ke Kyoto saya naik kereta Shinkansen dan langsung melihat perbedaan dua kota tersebut. Jumlah gedung tinggi di Kyoto tidak sebanyak di Tokyo. Masyarakatnya juga terlihat lebih santai — mengayuh sepeda untuk pergi ke kantor atau sekolah. Read more

When the sun rises it is the best time to capture the beauty of Borobudur — the largest Buddhist temple in Indonesia. Located in Magelang, the magnificent temple is basically in the middle of the island of Java. The temple attracts millions of visitors annually.
